We are on our way to Haiti

Right now we are sitting in LAX on our way to the Dominican Republic. From there we will be bused across to Haiti. We have a bags full of medical supplies and equipment, we dont know where we will be placed, or what we will be doing exactly, but we are excited and ready for anything.

We have been so blessed by people's financial generosity, from churches and individuals giving to our trip. We still need more, but believe it will all come in and more, so we can hugely bless the work in Haiti.

We hope that some of us will be working in the medical care facilities. Martijn will be also recording video footage and training some of the team in Haiti to use the equipment, so they can document what is happening.

It is so easy to think that things are getting better because the news is not so full of the devastation, but the reality is that Haiti will be a nation in need for years to come. It had no infrastructure before the earthquake hit, it is already one of the most corrupt nations on earth and it is a nation gripped by fear. Because of the lack of infrastructure, it is a nation that is propped up by NGO's and mission organisations, which has meant that the organisation of aid and relief has been challenging. YWAM and it's nation director Terry Snow, have been faithfully serving there for 20 years and have demonstrated that they are trustworthy and honest. This has led to a great opportunity for YWAM to be at the center of helping with putting structure in place to cope with having so many families left homeless and broken. We hope we are able be demonstrate the love of Jesus for the people of Haiti, so that the broken-hearted find hope and in the midst of their pain and having to rebuild their lives, that they are not alone.

We will check back in with more as we can.

Thanks for your prayers and giving. Please continue to give - all the ways are listed to the right of this page!

Thanks & love, Jo and the team
