Thanksgiving ... a time to reflect
Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 12:21AM Last week was American Thanksgiving. A time to traditionally reflect on what we are thankful for and in turn give thanks to God.
We had a houseful of friends, Americans, Swiss, New Zealanders, Australians and of course Brits. It was a great day of food, friendship and celebration. It was a reminder that God has always answered my prayers to surround me with friends and people I can enjoy serving him with. This year has taken me to some wild and exotic locations, but there is something comforting about being able to come home. Whether it is to my family home in England and be with my blood family, or coming back to Kona and our quirky house, with my YWAM family.
I all too often under appreciate the gift of loving family and what they give to me. We celebrated my brothers wedding - a beautiful day, but the time was all too short to fully appreciate. Here in Kona we need to appreciate each other more. Not because we dont already in some measure, but because it is good to acknowledge each other.
I work alongside an amazing group of dedicated people. Most of what they do goes unthanked in many ways.
I have an incredible team of faithful and devoted partners who pray for me and give financially every month. Without each one of them I would certainly not be doing what I do. I know I dont thank them often enough. But am grateful every day for each one of them.
My thought for today is that we need to thank and appreciate each other more often, even for the smallest things. To tell them we love them and could not what we do with out their contribution and efforts!
